Medications: remained consistent through the three tries at IUI. I was prescribed Letrozole to be taken for 5 days and Ovidrol to trigger ovulation. I have a regular cycle and each IUI naturally landed right around my ovulation anyways but they want to control more during these processes so they tell you when to take the Ovidrol shot and then the procedure is around 36 hours later. I really like FertilityIQ's website for additional information about IUI's. IUI's may not make sense for all couples - ask your doctor about it...I am a guidance counselor. https://www.fertilityiq.com/iui-or-artificial-insemination Pro/Con: Each IUI only has a success rate of 10-15%. However, it is substantially cheaper than IVF and requires much less medication and medical involvement so it is something to try. Insurance may require you to do a certain number of IUI's prior to starting IVF because it is substantially cheaper for them as well. For us, it was helpful to slowly lean in to the fertility process in general through IUI rather than jumping into IVF.
